Dentist

Robin Thompson BDS Dundee 1978, DGDP UK 1992

Practice Owner

Robin started Westport Dental Practice in 1998, which quickly grew from initially a single dentist practice to 2 dentists in 1999 and progressively to the present time with 2 full time and 2 part time dentists.

Having graduated from Dundee University in 1978 and eager to develop his skills Robin completed 4 years of specialist training at Edinburgh Dental Hospital.

In 1986 he was made a Fellow in the Conservative Dentistry Department of Edinburgh University and awarded the Diploma in General Dental Practice RCS.UK in 1992.

Other roles have included 10 years of undergraduate teaching at Edinburgh University, 25 years as a postgraduate trainer with NHS Education Scotland, and as a Dental Adviser to Lothian Healthboard.

Robin has also done further training to allow him to restore dental implants and provide orthodontic treatment.

Robin has recently retired from the NHS but is able to accept a small number of new patients privately

Alison joined the practice in August 2019. She graduated from Dundee University in 2018 ( having previously attended Linlithgow Academy ) and completed a year of postgraduate training in Highland Region.

Dylan Coutts BDS Aberdeen 2013

Dylan joined our practice in November 2020 after moving from a busy practice in Inverness. He graduated from Aberdeen University in 2013 and then completed a year of postgraduate training in Highland Region. Since then he has worked in General Practice in Perth and Inverness.

Emma joined the practice in August 2020 having graduated from Glasgow University in 2019 and completed a year of postgraduate training in Forth Valley.

Nicole joined the practice as a trainee Dental Nurse in 2020, receiving the formal part of her training at Edinburgh Dental Institute. Since then she has progressed within the practice and is now our Practice Manager.

Rachel qualified as a Dental Therapist from the University of Edinburgh and joined our practicein May 2024. She has loved getting to know all the patients here and tries to create a positive environment for the hygiene appointments.

Joan has been with the practice since it opened and is a very valued member of our team. Until recently she was a registered Dental Nurse, but now she works part-time as one of our Receptionists

Roxie joined the practice in 2023 as part of the Scottish Modern Apprenticeship Scheme. She has recently completed her training and is awaiting her formal registration  as a Dental Care Professional with the GDC.

Susan Clark

Diploma in Dental Nursing, BSc Microbiology

Susan worked in the practice a number of years ago as a Dental Nurse, but left to work in a Microbiology Laboratory.

Recently we were happy to welcome her back to the team. She is now working in Reception and in our Decontamination Unit.
